Global Warming and the Price of a Gallon of Gas

You may want to give credit where credit is due to Al Gore and his global warming campaign the next time you fill your car with gasoline, because there is a direct connection between Global Warming and four dollar a gallon gas.

It is shocking, but true, to learn that the entire Global Warming frenzy is based on the environmentalist’s attack on fossil fuels, particularly gasoline. All this big time science, international meetings, thick research papers, dire threats for the future; all of it, comes down to their claim that the carbon dioxide in the exhaust from your car and in the smoke stacks from our power plants is destroying the climate of planet Earth. What an amazing fraud; what a scam.

The future of our civilization lies in the balance.

That’s the battle cry of the High Priest of Global Warming Al Gore and his fellow, agenda driven disciples as they predict a calamitous outcome from anthropogenic global warming. According to Mr. Gore the polar ice caps will collapse and melt and sea levels will rise 20 feet inundating the coastal cities making 100 million of us refugees. Vice President Gore tells us numerous Pacific islands will be totally submerged and uninhabitable. He tells us global warming will disrupt the circulation of the ocean waters, dramatically changing climates, throwing the world food supply into chaos. He tells us global warming will turn hurricanes into super storms, produce droughts, wipe out the polar bears and result in bleaching of coral reefs. He tells us tropical diseases will spread to mid latitudes and heat waves will kill tens of thousands. He preaches to us that we must change our lives and eliminate fossil fuels or face the dire consequences.

The future of our civilization is in the balance.

With a preacher’s zeal, Mr. Gore sets out to strike terror into us and our children and make us feel we are all complicit in the potential demise of the planet.

Here is my rebuttal.

There is no significant man made global warming. There has not been any in the past, there is none now and there is no reason to fear any in the future. The climate of Earth is changing. It has always changed. But mankind’s activities have not overwhelmed or significantly modified the natural forces.
Through all history, Earth has shifted between two basic climate regimes: ice ages and what paleoclimatologists call “Interglacial periods”. For the past 10 thousand years the Earth has been in an interglacial period. That might well be called nature’s global warming because what happens during an interglacial period is the Earth warms up, the glaciers melt and life flourishes. Clearly from our point of view, an interglacial period is greatly preferred to the deadly rigors of an ice age. Mr. Gore and his crowd would have us believe that the activities of man have overwhelmed nature during this interglacial period and are producing an unprecedented, out of control warming.

Well, it is simply not happening. Worldwide there was a significant natural warming trend in the 1980’s and 1990’s as a Solar cycle peaked with lots of sunspots and solar flares. That ended in 1998 and now the Sun has gone quiet with fewer and fewer Sun spots, and the global temperatures have gone into decline. Earth has cooled for almost ten straight years. So, I ask Al Gore, where’s the global warming?

This is a great read by Sherwood Thoele about global warming, or is it global cooling?

Thoele, of Fincastle, has been an analytical chemist for 32 years in the pharmaceutical and personal health care industries. He is also a mathematician.

Global cooling or global warming, which is it? It depends upon the latest climate study published.

In the 1960s and 1970s, they claimed global cooling because of several years of colder than “normal” temperatures.

Academia and certain think tanks claimed this cooling was from too much CO2 (carbon dioxide) in the atmosphere.

That died down and then came a warming spell, so we are now experiencing global warming, because of too much CO2 in the atmosphere.

So, too much CO2 causes both global cooling and global warming.

As an analytical chemist, I analyze all the parameters and data from studies: what prompted the study, who funded it, where it was conducted, measuring equipment accuracy and the atmospheric conditions or physical status of that area during the study.

Finally a hero with shining armor comes to save the day for the major media, by actually asking questions, raising doubts and proving lies in the Al Gore movie An Inconvenient Truth.

It’s about time at least one show, on one network showed the facts against man-made global warming. John Stossel on 20/20 wisely ignored the “experts” who said the “debate is over.”

It is refreshing to hear from a “famous” person about the approach a lot of scientists, politicians and paid lobbyists have taken regarding global warming. Now this isn’t your normal everyday TV actor or movie star, this comes from the Founder of the Weather Channel, John Coleman.

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM.

Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data back in the late 1990’s to create an allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental wacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

Environmental extremist, notable politicians among them then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda.

Now their ridicules manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment.

I do not oppose environmentalism. I do not oppose the political positions of either party.

However, Global Warming, i.e. Climate Change, is not about environmentalism or politics. It is not a religion. It is not something you “believe in.” It is science; the science of meteorology. This is my field of life-long expertise. And I am telling you Global Warming is a nonevent, a manufactured crisis and a total scam. I say this knowing you probably won’t believe me, a mere TV weatherman, challenging a Nobel Prize, Academy Award and Emmy Award winning former Vice President of United States. So be it.

PETA and the animal rights activists love the global warming goofballs, not only because they’re liberal loopys themselves, but it helps their agenda. And it’s true, according to a recent report from scientists in Japan. Producing 2.2 pounds of meat creates as much carbon dioxide as driving a car for three hours. Those quarter pounders add up pretty quick, and after a week worth of drive-thru eating, you could have caused less “harm” to the environment by driving all day and eating veggies.

“Taking into account all the processes involved, they said, four average sized steaks generated greenhouse gases with a warming potential equivalent to 80.25lb of carbon dioxide. This also consumed 169 mega joules of energy.

That means that 2.2lb of beef is responsible for greenhouse gas emissions which have the same effect as the carbon dioxide released by an ordinary car travelling at 50 miles per hour for 155 miles, a journey lasting three hours. The amount of energy consumed would light a 100-watt bulb for 20 days.

Most of the greenhouse gas emissions are in the form of methane released from the animals’ digestive systems, New Scientist magazine reported.”

So the methane from the cows causes most of the greenhouse gas emissions . . .

Maybe we should have called this website Global Warming Farts.

“Boy, it sure is hot today Billy Bob,” complained Cooter. “Yeah, that must be cause of that global warmin’ stuff they’re talkin’ about on the TV,” Billy Bob explained.

If you are willing to believe those two and leave it at that, so be it. If you’ve got half a brain more than Billy Bob, you may begin to wonder if global warming is really causing that unusually hot summer day. Is that dagnab climate changing on us due to our smoke and pollution? Or could it possibly be the good ole’ weather that is making Cooter complain? What the heck is the difference between the weather and the climate anyways?

Well we’ll try to explain it so even Cooter can understand.

What we call “weather” is pretty much just that, it’s the events that happen every day in our beautiful atmosphere. (Yup Cooter, that big blue sky up there.)
Things like rainfall, humidity, temperature and other “weather stuff” are what we refer to when we ask our neighbor, “How about that weather?”

The more difficult concept for someone like Cooter to understand is that funny word - “Climate”. As the climate is different around the earth, the weather at your house is different than at Zookoo Tu Tu’s hut in Africa. Climate controls the weather. Did you get that? Let’s repeat that slowly…climate controls the weather. That hot sunny day that Cooter was complaining about is very common in many parts of the world, global warning or no global warming.

Now why is it hotter this year than last year? Well, climate temperatures have historically gone up and down. Right now climates are heating up because our planet is warming. So, is that why it’s hotter this year? It’s global warming right? It just may be, but climate change across the globe is a lot trickier than a simple yes or no to the questions raised due to many other factors.

That’s right global warming fans, there were sixty scientists that sent an open letter to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The letter warned the Prime Minister that climate change is poorly understood, and cautioned him in the validity of recent computer models. Below is the actual text contained in the letter and a list of the sixty scientists in agreement. So next time someone tells you scientists have proven global warming….well you’ll know what to do.

Dear Prime Minister:

As accredited experts in climate and related scientific disciplines, we are writing to propose that balanced, comprehensive public-consultation sessions be held so as to examine the scientific foundation of the federal government’s climate-change plans. This would be entirely consistent with your recent commitment to conduct a review of the Kyoto Protocol. Although many of us made the same suggestion to then-prime ministers Martin and Chretien, neither responded, and, to date, no formal, independent climate-science review has been conducted in Canada. Much of the billions of dollars earmarked for implementation of the protocol in Canada will be squandered without a proper assessment of recent developments in climate science.
Observational evidence does not support today’s computer climate models, so there is little reason to trust model predictions of the future. Yet this is precisely what the United Nations did in creating and promoting Kyoto and still does in the alarmist forecasts on which Canada’s climate policies are based. Even if the climate models were realistic, the environmental impact of Canada delaying implementation of Kyoto or other greenhouse-gas reduction schemes, pending completion of consultations, would be insignificant. Directing your government to convene balanced, open hearings as soon as possible would be a most prudent and responsible course of action.

When politicians and journalists declare that the science of global warming is settled, they show a regrettable ignorance about how science works. We were treated to another dose of it recently when the experts of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued the Summary for Policymakers that puts the political spin on an unfinished scientific dossier on climate change due for publication in a few month’s time. They declared that most of the rise in temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to man-made greenhouse gases.

The small print explains “very likely” as meaning that the experts who made the judgment felt 90% sure about it. Older readers may recall a press conference at Harwell in 1958 when Sir John Cockcroft, Britain’s top nuclear physicist, said he was 90% certain that his lads had achieved controlled nuclear fusion. It turned out that he was wrong. More positively, a 10% uncertainty in any theory is a wide open breach for any latterday Galileo or Einstein to storm through with a better idea. That is how science really works.
